Starting today, Peninsula Women’s Network (PWN) is inviting local businesses to get creative for a cause. The group is holding a winter clothing drive in conjunction with its WARM for the Holidays Mixer on December 14 at the Marriott City Center in Newport News. Local businesses who register as designated drop-off locations can join the collection box-decorating competition for a chance to win several unique marketing opportunities.

Getting involved is simple, fun, and a great way to spend time with your team! First, let your imaginations run wild in the decorating process. Then:

  • Take a photo of your co-workers or customers with the decorated box and send the photo to PWN at administrator@peninsulawomensnetwork.org by November 6. Include the link to your company’s Facebook page and website.
  • Visit and like the PWN Facebook page.
  • Share the Facebook link we will send you with everyone on social media to let them know you want to WIN and encourage them to vote for your business’ decorated collection box as their favorite. Be sure to tag yourself and your business in the picture you post.
  • Encourage people to drop off donations of new or gently used winter clothing, including socks, gloves, hats, and scarves, at your location.

The winner will be the business with the most votes on the PWN Facebook page. The winner will receive four unique marketing opportunities, including recognition at the WARM for the Holidays Mixer on December 14; a mention on the PWN Facebook page, perfect for sharing with your social media audience; a write-up in the January PWN newsletter; and a mention in the press release that will be distributed to numerous local media and news outlets after the event.

To register as a drop-off location, contact PWN President Shelley Smith via phone at 757-897-8644 or via e-mail at Shelley@Premierraport.com. Sponsorship opportunities for the event are still available and you can contact Shelley Smith to get started.
